POEM: The second summer of your life

The second summer of your life
You can walk now, bring me flowers
Spend hours playing in the sand
It’s so beautiful, how special these small things are to you

I love to sit here with you in the sun
Watching the whole world unfold in our backyard
A bounty of colours and textures my adult eyes were blind to
Everything amazes me once more

But most of all I love how
Of all the magical things in your new world
You look at me as if I might just be
The most magical thing in it

(Dedicated to Natasha, always my inspiration.)
